Woman Forced To Give Ex-Husband ‘Boudoir’ Pics In Divorce

A Utah woman has been forced to hand over a “boudoir album” of nude photos to her ex-husband as part of their divorce. The man claims he wants to keep the racy pics for “memory’s sake.” The woman says that a judge forced her “to distribute basically porn” after ruling that her husband of 25 years had the right to keep the intimate messages she scrawled inside the album.

“It’s violating and it’s incredibly embarrassing and humiliating,” she also told the Salt Lake Tribune of the order. “These are things that were sensual and loving that I wrote to my husband that I loved. [He’s] my ex-husband now,” she said. She said the boudoir album was the only thing her ex- fought to keep during the divorce: “The only way I can hopefully protect someone else from going through the same situation is to tell my story and expose that these are the types of things that he thinks are OK,” she told the Utah paper.

Utah Law Seeks To Block Porn On Phones

Conservative lawmakers in Utah want to pass a law that would automatically block porn on phones and tablets sold in the state. Lawmakers in the majority Mormon state have previously ordered warning labels on pornography, declaring it a “public health crisis.” The state has historically railed against pornography—and sometimes even considers mainstream magazines and lingerie catalogs offensive.

Phone manufacturers and retailers claimed filters would be too difficult to apply in a single state, and successfully lobbied for a provision that would only allow the bill to be enforced if at least five other states follow suit. If the measure is signed into law, Utah would be the first state to mandate filters on devices. Many critics are already calling foul, claiming the law would violate First Amendment rights. Talk about a Pornsnub!

Governor Bans Sex Puns On Free Condom Wrappers

condomsThe governor of Utah stopped state distribution of free condoms due to sexual innuendos on the packaging. The state’s HIV prevention campaign intended on giving away 100,000 condoms—until they saw the racy and funny sex puns. The condoms had short slogans on them like “SL,UT,” “toss the jello salad,” “put your arch into it,” and “explore Utah’s caves.”

“The Governor understands the importance of the Utah Department of Health conducting a campaign to educate Utahns about HIV prevention,” the governor’s office said in a statement. “He does not, however, approve the use of sexual innuendo as part of a taxpayer-funded campaign.” Unsurprisingly, people on Twitter like the punny condoms. As one tweet said, “Okay unsurprising that Utah canceled this but these condom designs are great? every state should have a campaign about being ~regionally horny~” We couldn’t agree more!

Utah Officially Allows Citizens To Have Sex Outside Marriage

white-1822497_640While you might think this is a headline from the year 1900, it is actually much more recent. Utah has just signed a law allowing unmarried people to have sex without breaking the law. Until recently, that was a class B misdemeanor under a 1973 law that carried a possible penalty of up to six months in jail or a maximum fine of $1,000.

Though it was neither enforced or prosecuted, it wasn’t until recently that Utah signed a similar bill that repealed the misdemeanor offenses of adultery and sodomy among consenting adults. Known as “offenses against the family,” the crimes were unenforceable because of court rulings on what consenting adults can do in private. As one Utah citizen said, “Basically just like, ‘Oh thank God, I can do this thing I’ve always been doing.’”

Porn Site Reroutes Utah Traffic To Sex Ed Videos

LetsTalkSexThe popular porn site xHamster has the perfect response to Utah lawmaker’s recent decision to reject a bill that would have offered parents the choice of opting their children into comprehensive sex ed as an alternative to abstinence-only education: it’s sending traffic to the site from Utah to sex ed videos! “Beginning immediately, we’re rerouting all xHamster traffic from Utah to our comprehensive sex ed series, The Box,” said xHamster. “We’ve been working on The Box since last year, producing videos based on questions submitted by porn viewers.”

Utahans are being served with a popup reading, “Can we turn the thirstiest state in the nation into the smartest?” (A 2009 report found that Utah ranked No. 1 in subscriptions to porn sites.) Visitors redirected to the not at all explicit The Box can find videos like “the secret to anal sex” and ask questions like “How do you have an orgasm” instead of getting an eyeful of porn. As the site explained, “While we love porn, we don’t think that it should be relied on for sex ed any more than Star Wars is a substitute for science class.” May the force be with you, xHamster.

Utah’s Lawmaker Wants to Install Porn Blocking Software On All Cell Phones

ombinedYou may remember Utah Senator Todd Weiler? He’s the guy who successfully pushed an anti-porn resolution through the state Senate earlier this year after declaring porn a “public health crisis.” Well, he’s at it again with his latest brilliant idea: add a bill to abolish internet porn on cell phones in his state. He’d do this by adding online filters and anti-porn software on all cell phones that would require Utah citizens to opt-in before viewing porn online.

“A cell phone is basically a vending machine for pornography,” Weiler told TechCrunch. Critics of Weiler’s (harebrained) plan point out its impracticality, since it would require “major ISPs and cell phone makers to add special porn filtering software just for Utah citizens,” says TechCrunch. Others have compared it to China’s costly and ineffective censorship laws: “The Chinese government has poured hundreds of millions of dollars into censorship and have failed at restricting what their people can see. I don’t see Utah doing any better,” a local Utah ISP provider said. Weiler himself does not even know how the program would work—only that he must stop kids from watching porn! Yeah, good luck with that, Weenie, uh, we mean Weiler.

Looking for easy access to hard-core experiences? You don’t need to “opt-in” at NiteFlirt for that!

Study Shows Watching Porn Promotes Safe Sex

condompinConsidering porn’s bad rap, especially Utah’s recent denouncement of it as an “epidemic,” many wouldn’t believe that adult entertainment actually promotes safe sex. But the porn industry just got a pretty unlikely endorsement—from science! A new study released by Columbia University shows that gay men who watch porn are actually sexually healthier than those who don’t.

The study surveyed 265 men who have sex with men, finding that those who watched porn were more likely to practice safe sex. “Among the 92 percent who reported watching condomless porn, nearly half admitted that the images had influenced them to have condomless sex. The men agreed that pornography depicting safe sex encouraged them to wear a condom as well,” reports the Daily Beast. What this means is that despite porn being labeled as “detrimental” and “dangerous,” it has the potential to help people to practice safe sex. So instead of denouncing porn, perhaps policy makers should be trying to positively influence behavior by making more sexually explicit images available. Thank you, science!

Utah Declares a War On Porn

nopornCongratulations, Utah—you’ve just become the first state in the US to formally declare pornography a “public health crisis.” It’s true. The state’s Senate recently passed an unanimous resolution to crack down on pornography and the “sexually toxic environment” that it perpetuates. Though the resolution didn’t pass any laws, it aims to address “the pornography epidemic that is harming the citizens of Utah and the nation.”

State Senator Todd Weiler recently told Vice that porn is addictive and harmful, and that its consumption “can impact brain development and functioning, contribute to emotional and medical illnesses, and shape deviant sexual arousal.” Utah is a very religious state—60 percent of its residents identify as Mormon—which explains the public condemnation of porn as a “fatal epidemic; like a moral plague.” Many critics are calling Utah out for hypocrisy: the state teaches “abstinence only” in schools, and doesn’t include contraception education in its curriculum, which could account for the high STD rate among teenagers. As studies have shown, when you make sex taboo and shameful, it only fuels sexually risky behavior—maybe it’s time for Utah to include sex-ed in its schools before scapegoating porn for its problems.
