ABC Will Air Documentary About Porn Site OnlyFans

The ABC is set to investigate the growing popularity of “democratized porn” by screening a documentary about OnlyFans. The documentary Nude Next Door will lift the lid on the subscription-based adult website popular with influencers and reality stars. “It will feature some wonderful women who open up about the rewards, risks and realities of being on this notorious platform,” the director said in a statement.

Many reality TV stars and internet celebrities have capitalized on their fame by joining OnlyFans. The likes of Hayley Vernon, Jessika Power and Ines Basic from Married At First Sight have found success on the platform, as has Charlie Taylor from Love Island. Even ABC News Breakfast sports reporter Tony Armstrong joined the website.

According to scientists from the University of Delaware, people around the world are showing “willingness to substitute electronic companionship for human companionship.” What’s more, the researchers speculate that six percent is probably a “conservative estimate.”

They claim that “television is associated with sex life morbidity,” while smartphones may actually be “the real sex-life killer.” The study looked at data from nearly four million people in 80 countries, finding the average person had sex just three times a month in 2010, compared to five in 1990. The study’s lead researcher singled out the popular HBO series Game of Thrones, pointing out that TV used to “close down at 10.30pm” with couples having “nothing else to do.”
