This Company Wants To Make Sex Toys More Accessible For People With Disabilities

Sextech is seeking to change the sex toy industry by creating innovative products created for and by more marginalized people. Now there’s a new sextech company focusing exclusively on people with disabilities. Handi says, “more brands wanting to be seen as inclusive and doing something for people with disabilities, very few dedicate the proper money or resources needed to fix the problem, or to design innovative solutions.”

The company has spent years working on concepts to help bridge this gap in the sex toy market by working in partnership with a research and design team, which found that roughly 56 percent of people with physical disabilities reported having difficulty with self-pleasuring. Handi gets feedback from a variety of testers with a range of hand-related disabilities to ensure that every part of the experience—from packaging, to clean up, to even storage—is doable (no pun intended!) for these folks, without assistance from a caregiver. “We work directly with occupational therapists, since they see clients every day, have amazing brains for problem-solving, and see firsthand the most common issues,” Handi says.

Quarter Of Young People Say They Would Have Sex With AI Robot

For young people, sex with humans is becoming blasé. Among people under 30, one in four says they are open to a relationship with an AI droid, according to a recent survey from a tech company. One quarter of the participants also state that they would have sex with the robots.

The cybersecurity company asked 1,000 Germans aged 16 to 30 about their perception on devices powered by artificial intelligence—finding 26 percent of young people can imagine falling in love with an AI robot specifically programmed to meet their needs. A quarter of them would consider having sex with a human-like droid, with the proportion of men nearly two times higher than women. Almost a third of the participants believe they can find their ideal human partners with the help of artificial intelligence, while 27 percent of them believe that romantic relationships created by AI can last longer.
