Cheap ‘Morning-After’ Pill Could Curb STD Surge

A cheap antibiotic could help slow the growing US epidemic of sexually transmitted diseases for gay men, researchers say. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is drafting recommendations to consume doxycycline—used to treat bacterial infections and prevent malaria—to stave off STDs. The CDC says the medication would be taken like a “morning-after” pill.

The study, published in New England Journal of Medicine, found that taking a 200-milligram pill of doxycycline within three days of unprotected sex reduced bacterial STIs by two-thirds every three months. The yearlong study followed 500 gay men, bisexual men and transgender women with prior STD infections. The CDC noted the medicine will not “be a magic bullet,” describing it instead as “another tool” in combating the gay STD epidemic.

Woman Sues GEICO After Getting HPV From Having Sex In Car They Insured

15 minutes is all it takes to get…HPV? A woman is suing GEICO for $1 million after she had sex with a man and contracted an STD in his car insured by the provider. The insurance company has since filed a counter suit, and has accused the pair of colluding for a massive payout.

The woman filed a liability suit against the popular agency after having unprotected sex with the man in the backseat of his 2014 Hyundai Genesis, and testing positive for HPV as a result. In GEICO’s counter suit, they cite that the man’s car insurance only covers injuries that happen “out of the ownership, maintenance, or use of” the car. What’s more, both of the defendants admittedly had sex in the man’s home as well as other locations, raising the issue of when and where the virus was actually transmitted.

Woman Sues Boyfriend After He Butt-Dialed Her During Sex With Another Man

5942090561_8656911f4b_zA woman in Tennessee got an earful when her boyfriend butt-dialed her while cheating on her with a man. She’s now suing her ex for $1 million on charges of battery, intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, negligence and fraud. According to the court documents, “Defendant dialed Plaintiff’s cell phone from his cell phone, apparently accidentally, while he was in the midst of a sexual encounter with an unknown male.”

The woman claims she listened to the tryst, which included “explicit sexual conversation” and her boyfriend “narrating various actions” for an hour and 28 minutes. She also tried to confront the defendant about what she heard—and her subsequent STD diagnosis—but he allegedly refused to discuss the matter and cut off communication with her. The suit contends that she had stayed within the boundaries of her monogamous and heterosexual relationship with the defendant at “all times,” and is demanding a trial by jury based on her claims for damages.
