Pornhub Releases Stats On Gay Porn, State by State

Well, Pornhub just released stats on what search terms are the most popular in each U.S. state. “Twink,” “straight” and “bareback” are among the most searched for, but what’s more interesting is the popularity of terms like “redneck” and “cowboy,” especially in West Virginia and Montana.

Also, “tickle” is 718 more popular in Massachusetts, and “Mormon” is 437 more popular in Idaho than anywhere else in the country. Other interesting findings: women make up 26 percent of Pornhub site visitors, but make up 37 percent of gay porn viewers (women love them some lesbian porn!). Also, gay porn accounts for only 6.3 percent of the site’s page views, but gay porn is one of the most uploaded categories of all time with 1.86 million clips over the past 10 years—surpassed only by “amateur” porn.

LetsTalkSexPornhub recently celebrated its 10th birthday, so to mark the occasion it released statistics on how porn has changed in the last decade (spoiler alert: a lot!). It found that the top three categories of all time are Amateur, Gay, and Blowjob, with Amateur remaining a big hit since Pornhub’s launch in 2007. Teen is also a popular category, but MILF has stayed popular longer, reigning supreme as the most searched category from 2012 to 2014.

But in 2015, the Lesbian category rose through the ranks to the top spot and has yet to be out-searched. Other interesting data: back in 2007, the average user would spend a grand total of 13 minutes and 46 seconds watching porn, while in 2017 the average user spends four minutes less time on the site, thanks to broadband internet. The site has also gone from 134 hours of uploaded porn to a whopping 476,000 hours of video. All that porn should make for some good celebrating!
