Lindsey Graham Accused Of Hiring Gay Sex Workers

Senator Lindsey Graham is being accused of hiring gay sex workers—and people are calling him out for his “hypocritical” treatment of the LGBTQ community. Adult film star Sean Harding brought the accusations into the mainstream on Twitter: “There is a homophobic republican senator who is no better than Trump who keeps passing legislation that is damaging to the lgbt and minority communities.” He added, “Every sex worker I know has been hired by this man.”

Sex workers immediately responded to the tweets: “Ohhhhh I know soooo many people who he’s hired,” one wrote in response. “Lady G is a very open secret here in DC….” another added. With permission, Harding shared another claim made by a sex worker also alleged to be hired by Graham. He claimed he “never signed a NDA,” after Graham was also accused of making some of the men he hired sign non-disclosure agreements.

NYC Sex Workers’ Pop-Up

Sex workers in New York City took their message to the streets with the Sex Workers’ Pop-Up, which showcases art by activists who are demanding the decriminalization and destigmatization of the sex work industry. The pop-up puts authentic sex workers’ stories on display, bringing the underground nature of sex work out into the public arena as a way to show that “sex work is work.” The art raises awareness about the issues that sex workers face from not having legal rights or workers benefits.

The most marginalized sex workers are women of color and trans women, so much of the artwork shows viewers who these people really are, letting them see who would be directly affected by the policy change. There’s also a room full of red umbrellas, which has symbolized the beauty and strength of sex workers’ rights since 2010. The work featured in the pop-up is risque and thought-provoking, urging viewers to think about sex work from a more compassionate and nuanced perspective.

PayPal Pulls Out Of Pornhub

wtf-1780728_640PayPal has pulled support for adult performers’ payouts on Pornhub, abruptly screwing (no pun intended) sex workers out of getting their payments in a timely and efficient way. The porn site broke the news on Twitter, saying “URGENT: PayPal has stopped all Pornhub model payouts.” In a follow-up post Pornhub wrote, “We sincerely apologize if this causes any [payout] delays and we will have staff working around the clock to make sure all payouts are processed as fast as possible on the new payment methods.”

Pornhub added, “Decisions like that of PayPal and other major companies do nothing but harm efforts to end discrimination and stigma towards sex workers.” Sex workers weren’t particularly shocked, given PayPal’s reputation for discrimination against adult performers, providers, and adult content creators as a whole. The move once again signals PayPal further stigmatizing sex workers. Way to leave sex workers high and dry, PayPal…

Sex Work Would Be Legalized In New York Under New Bill

inflatable-tubeNew York state is debating legalizing and lifting criminal penalties for sex work. The new bill, which has been written with DecrimNY, would make it legal to buy and sell sex under certain circumstances. Supporters say criminal penalties for prostitution haven’t worked, and legalization would improve sex worker safety while reducing trafficking and exploitation.

They claim many sex workers rely on their jobs to make ends meet, and that laws against prostitution only hurt vulnerable people with few other options. “For us, this is a bodily autonomy issue—our bodies, our choice—but more than that, it’s an economic issue. And it’s personal,” said DecrimNY. DecrimNY also tweeted, “.@DickGottfried reminds us that once upon a time, sex outside of marriage was criminalized, and not long ago, marriage between two people of the same gender was criminalized. Decriminalization of sex work is next!”

BDSM Netflix Series ‘Bonding’ Is Slammed By Dominatrixes

A new X-rated Netflix show about dominatrixes is being slammed by the sex workers it’s meant to represent. “Bonding” is about a student who moonlights as a dominatrix, and drags her best friend Pete into her late night New York antics. However, real-life dominatrixes have slammed the show for inaccuracies, saying those who make their living from dominating clients—as well those in the BDSM community—are not being accurately represented.

One dominatrix called the show out on social media, saying “how about you get actual BDSMrs to write and consult on a show about our community instead of whatever #BondingNetflix is. As a lifestyler and sex worker I’m not impressed with how badly you’re portraying us. Do better #BondingNetflixisnotkink.” The show was created by Rightor Doyle, who has based Pete’s character on his own experiences in New York at 22, when he was employed to be a dominatrix’s bodyguard. But as another angry viewer observed: “Was he an ‘assistant’ for a week, 20 years ago with a fuzzy memory?”

Sex Workers Are Sick Of Censorship On Social Media

Social media has been called The Great Equalizer, but sex workers have had a very different experience. Camgirls claim they’ve been discriminated against by Twitter and Instagram, Vice reports. Melody Kush, the camgirl who was banned from Twitter over an exposed nipple, has been iced again from the site—except this time, there’s no obvious reason for it.

She claims to have no idea why she was banned, since she didn’t have nudity in her avatar or header. Kush and other sex workers explain that they’re subjected to “shadow bans,” an algorithmic technique that classifies certain users accounts as containing “sensitive content” and then makes them “less visible.” Camgirls rely on social media to brand themselves, and with getting “pushed off social media,” they can’t help but feel discriminated against: “they’re not discriminating our content. They’re discriminating our persons, our work and our jobs,” says Kush.

Colombian Sex Workers Launch A Newspaper

best_phone_sex_niteflirt_financial_domination“Sex sells” is the slogan of a newspaper started by sex workers in Colombia. La Esquina, or “The Corner,” has been “flying off the shelves” since it first got started. It’s made by and for sex workers in Bogotá’s red light district, and is both distributed as a regular newspaper and laminated and plastered on the district’s walls for sex workers to read while they wait for clients.

“People think it is really cool,” staff member Lorena Daza told the Guardian. “I thought to myself, ‘Is anybody actually going to read this?’, but they do, and they like it.” The paper is funded by two local non-profits and is mostly produced by transgender sex workers who hope to “start a positive project in the neighborhood.” La Esquina covers a range of topics—everything from gossip and affordable recipes to hard-hitting features on trans issues. Right on, La Esquina!

Amsterdam Mayor Opens Brothel Run By Sex Workers

Copy-of-Stripper_on_a_Pole_svgIn an attempt to empower sex workers and improve working conditions in the red light district, the mayor of Amsterdam will open a brothel run by the prostitutes themselves. The new brothel occupies 14 “windows” across four buildings in Amsterdam’s red light district, allowing about 40 sex workers to operate out of the premises. “Everything in this project, from the statutes to the decoration of the rooms, is thought out by sex workers,” said one of the sex workers involved. “It is my hope that it will offer pleasant workspaces, where sex workers can be who they are and feel welcome.”

The goal of the initiative is for sex workers to be able to work independently, free to determine their own rental terms and working hours, and to socialize and help each other deal with things like negotiating and unpleasant customers. It’s being dubbed the “municipal brothel” because of the city’s role in the project, but the hope is to “emancipate” sex workers by giving them a chance to “acquire knowledge, experience and a position to develop themselves,” as a person on the initiative explains. According to one male prostitute, “All sex workers working together on a shared, emancipatory goal. That’s something very special.”

Pregnant Sex Worker Fully Embraces Pregnancy Fetish

Pregnant sex worker Summer Sebastian will not be taking any time off from her job at the Bunny Ranch, the infamous legal brothel in the state of Nevada. The 30-year-old, who’s in her second trimester, plans to “publicly, regularly and most of all proudly” blog about her experience as a “prego-working girl”—right up until she gives birth. For Sebastian, keeping her job is not only a personal decision, but also a political one: “I want to make a statement that supports the right of a woman to choose…to work as a prostitute while pregnant!”

Sebastian makes the point that, contrary to myths, sex during pregnancy is safe—and even beneficial—as long as condoms are used, which is a requirement at the Bunny Ranch. And she’s fully embracing the clients who get to live out their fantasy of being with a pregnant woman: she says, “[A]dding this creative component to my parties with my clients has just made sex that much more exciting, and interesting!” She adds, “I know being with a pregnant girl sexually is a HUGE sex fetish for a lot of people, and I sure hope to accommodate you over the next six months!”

Hookers For Hilary

Image Source: HookersForHillary on FacebookDennis Hof, owner of the Las Vegas brothel the Moonlite Bunny Ranch, is turning his attention away from sex work and toward a more main stream subject: the 2016 presidential election. Hof and the ladies who work at the Bunny Ranch decided they wanted to throw their support to Hilary Clinton, a candidate who’s championing women’s rights as part of her campaign. And they decided there’s no better way to bring attention to Clinton than by caucusing with sexy, skin-tight red, white, and blue negligees and stilettos!

Hof is no stranger to getting involved in politics—in 2008 and 2012 he caucused for Libertarian candidate Ron Paul with “Pimpin’ For Paul.” He believes strongly in the importance of elections and politics, and is adamant about the Bunny Ranch’s women voting in the upcoming election. While not everyone is for Clinton (including Hof, who is torn between her and Donald Trump), Hof believes it’s a great way to get people interested in politics and give the Bunny Ranch some free PR: “[Hookers for Hillary] is a great way to get, not only the Bunny Ranch’s name out there, but to get more support for Hillary… Hopefully maybe people who were not really [political] followers before kind of looked into it and went, ‘Wow, this is big! What’s going on?’” God bless America!
