This How Many Germans Would Have Sex With a Robot

A new study in Germany includes fascinating findings about German attitudes toward sex—including robot sex. According to the study, one in three men would be interested in having sex with a robot, while only a fifth of women said they would, even if the robot was very lifelike. Robot sex aside, the study also found that Germans are “very ready” to try new sexual experiences.

“Among those that responded to the poll 17 percent had used role play in a sexual scenario, 16 percent had participated in a threesome, and 6 percent had tried partner swapping,” reports Daily Mail. Interestingly, many said monogamy was unrealistic, with a whopping 40 percent of men and 28 percent of women saying that humans are not suited to be monogamous. And one third of those polled admitted to cheating on their partner, with many saying they were unfaithful because they wanted to try a new sexual experience. Naughty, naughty, Germany!

Engineer Creates Sex Robot That Needs To Be Romanced First

In a first for artificial intelligence, an engineer has created a robotic sex doll that enjoys sex as much as humans—or at least, the doll acts like she does. “Samantha” is equipped with the ability to respond to touch and what can only be described as romantic overtures. In other words, you need to get her warmed up before she can really respond to your touch.

“Basically she likes to be touched. She has different modes of interaction―she has romantic, she has family and she has also sexy modes,” explained the engineer who designed Samantha. She’s programmed to want romance first, before wanting to get sexual. But according to the engineer, the objective is to give her an orgasm. “Normally she likes to be kissed always and also she responds to, basically, the G-spot and also the breasts,” he said. “She also responds to the hands.” Samantha is also designed to give users positive feedback, such as “I love this” and “Nice and gentle.” Gotta give the lady, er, robot what she wants!

Sex Robots: the Future of Sex

Futurologist Ian Pearson has some interesting theories about the future of sex. According to a report he published in partnership with Bondara, a popular sex toy company in the UK, sex with a human-like robot will overtake sex between humans by 2050. While this may seem shocking, Pearson believes that in time fucking a robot will seem no more strange than viewing porn.

Pearson predicts that the key to people embracing robot sex will be improving the look and feel of the robots, so that they seem more lifelike. “A lot of people will have reservations about sex with robots at first but gradually as they get used to them, as the AI and mechanical behaviour and their feel improves, that squeamishness will gradually evaporate,” says Pearson. He also says that virtual sex and sex toys which interact with virtual reality will become commonplace in the not so distant future. While it is hard to imagine anything ever replacing human to human sex (cause there’s nothing that ever will!), we can see the appeal of relationship-free robot sex!

Robot Sex: the Future of Sex?

A new report written by futurologist Dr. Ian Pearson claims that sex between robots and humans will be more common than sex between two people by 2050. According to The Daily Beast, Pearson “purports that engaging in virtual sex acts will be as prevalent in 2030 as our engagement with porn today, and that the majority of people will own sex toys that employ an alternate reality in some way come 2035.”

Pearson predicts that eventually humans will adapt to the strangeness of AI lovin’ (i.e, “robophilia”) and begin to form emotional and intimate bonds with robots. He also thinks that technology will play a much bigger role in our bedrooms: “We’ll get technology to let you share experiences, inhabit other people’s bodies, even lock them in place or control them electronically.” In short, the future of sex is looking pretty sexy—especially in the way that robot sex will allow us to experience love and pleasure in safer and stranger ways.
