Amsterdam Considers Moving Prostitution From Red Light To ‘Erotic Center’

Amsterdam’s mayor has a controversial plan to move legal prostitution from the city’s historic red light district to a suburban “erotic center.” Hundreds of angry locals who do not want a “mega brothel” in their neighborhood found themselves on the same side as sex workers who want to stay in their red neon booths. The mayor has proposed three sites for a 100-room erotic center in the city’s south, to shutter the current red light district that has been at the center of complaints in the area.

But sex workers insist they want to stay in the red light district—which has been a center for prostitution since the 16th century. While it would take several years before any new “erotic center” will take shape, the city municipality is aiming to decide on the location by the end of the year. The city also launched a “Stay Away” campaign aimed at “nuisance” tourists who visit the city for sex and other debauchery.

MP’s Have Prostitutes Waiting In Hotel Room During Foreign Trips

MPs found sex workers waiting in their hotel rooms on a foreign trip, according to recent claims. The politicians are said to have been part of an All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) visit to a dictatorship when the XXX circumstances arose. There is no suggestion the MPs knew the prostitutes would be there, or that they used their services—but the claim highlights the potential risks with complaints that some trips are blighted by “sex and heavy drinking.”

The Times reported that on another visit to an important ally of the UK an MP had to be rebuked for repeatedly propositioning young female interns. An investigation found that when hosted abroad by diplomats, some would stay on to “pursue their interest in local women,” adding that others routinely engaged in drunken and lewd misbehavior—much to the annoyance of local officials. “If a hostile state is lucky they may get photos and they will make sure they know exactly what has happened. And then they might get something from that,” a government source said.

Oregon Makes Moves To Decriminalize Prostitution In The State

Oregon’s House Judiciary Committee held an informational hearing on a bill that would decriminalize prostitution in the state. House Bill 3088 would repeal the laws of prostitution, promoting prostitution, and commercial sexual solicitation. Proponents of the bill argue “the evidence is really clear that arresting sex workers or their clients does not help.”

An Oregon sex worker echoed the sentiment: “Please do not arrest our clients as a method for supposedly reducing harm. It does not respect consent.” According to the Sex Workers Project, the push for the ballot remains “very strong and clear.” The nonprofit said, “When voters hear the reasoning for protecting sex workers’ rights and autonomy, as well as (about) wasting unnecessarily public resources, our polling shows support reaching 68%.”

Hamburg’s Prostitutes Protest The Closure Of The City’s Legal Brothels

Prostitutes demonstrated in Hamburg’s red light district to demand that Germany’s brothels be allowed to reopen after months of closures amid the coronavirus lockdown. The country, which has been widely praised for its rapid coronavirus response, is keeping brothels closed while allowing shops, restaurants and bars to open again. Sex workers in Germany—where prostitution is legal—say they are being singled out and deprived of their livelihoods despite not posing a greater health risk.

The Association of Sex Workers said brothels could easily incorporate pandemic safety measures adopted by other industries, including face masks, ventilating premises and recording visitors’ contact details. “Prostitution does not carry a greater risk of infection than other close-to-body services, like massages, cosmetics or even dancing or contact sports,” the association said in a statement. “Hygiene is part of the business in prostitution.”

Swiss Brothels Will Reopen

Swiss brothels have been given the red light, er, green light to reopen as the country exits lockdown. There are strict health guidelines in place, including keeping your faces “one forearm length apart” during sex. Michigan Finally Wants To Ban Police From Legally Having Sex With Prostitutes

Lawmakers say Michigan is the last state in the union that offers police officers immunity from prosecution if they have have paid sex while undercover.

“This is pretty significant when you’re the only state left in the country who still makes allowances for undercover police to accommodate sexual intercourse. And finally we’re to the point where we need to eradicate this law and repeal it and get rid of it,” Republican Senator Judy Emmons said. The Michigan police claim that they do not take advantage of the immunity offered under the law, but regardless, “it’s still on the books,” as Emmons says. The legislation will move on to the state House after it was unanimously approved in the Michigan Senate. God bless America!
