tumblr To Ban Porn

tumblrStarting on December 17th, social media mainstay tumblr will be firmly cracking down on adult content (what we at NiteFlirt call “fun”). Their help center describes “adult content” as “photos, videos, or GIFs that show real-life human genitals or female-presenting nipples, and any content—including photos, videos, GIFs and illustrations—that depicts sex acts”. Any images that they deem too racy or questionable will be flagged and possibly taken down; they also say that even blogs that are marked “explicit” before December 17th will be hidden (but not deleted, they seem to give some time to backup that content if the owner wants), but that content may not be acceptable at all, and “will be actioned accordingly”, whatever THAT means.

This news comes after tumblr’s app was removed from Apple’s App Store on November 16th because child pornography hadn’t been filtered properly.

The backlash to this change in their standards has been quick, like the response from the Free Speech Coalition, a group that stands up to defend the adult industry. They were clear in their post condemning tumblr’s rule change, and you can read their full letter here, but in short they came out hard to condemn what they see as outright censorship and stigmatization of adult content:

As legitimate platforms ban or censor adult content —  having initially benefited from traffic that adult content brought them —  illegitimate platforms for distribution take their place. The closure of Tumblr only means more piracy, more dispersal of community, and more suffering for adult producers and performers.

That’s some strong stuff. And they’re not alone; the message from the CEO and co-founder of ManyVids, Bella French, called the move “simply shameful and blatantly discriminatory” as posted to their blog.

For anyone wondering how that might affect them here at NiteFlirt, Social Shouts does support posting to tumblr, and that isn’t set to change. Our Shouts don’t include images by default, so sharing them with your followers should continue to be available as it has since we introduced them. So for anybody that might be concerned about this news, we’re keeping an eye on it from here, no worries!

Anti-Porn Conservatives Turn Porn Performer’s University Speech Into a Scandal

condomsLongtime porn performer and sex educator Nina Hartley was recently invited to speak at University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The talk was titled “Fantasy Vs. Reality: A critical view of adult media.” In her 90-minute lecture she “touched on everything from female empowerment, to the necessity of consent, to the importance of differentiating porn from reality,” according to the La Crosse Tribune.

But it seems not everyone was a fan of her speech—in particular, anti-porn crusaders who contacted conservative media outlets to turn the lecture into a tawdry sex scandal. Before long word spread that the chancellor of the university had given the porn star $5,000 for a “secret” sex talk. The outcry got so heated that the chancellor penned an op-ed to explain his decision to fund the talk, before agreeing to “personally compensate the university for Hartley’s $5,000 appearance fee.”

Augmented Reality Porn Stars Are Coming To A Living Room Near You

Adult entertainment studio Naughty America has released one of the industry’s first ever X-rated augmented reality (AR) apps, which lets users put life-sized 3-D versions of porn stars right in their living room (or bedroom). A free version of the app features porn stars in their underwear, but paying users get to download completely nude adult entertainers. “Each performer does a few moves, and some address the viewer directly with some choice dirty words,” reports NY Post.

Each AR clip is around four seconds long, which helped keep the app and any additional downloads reasonably small. Naughty America is one of the first XXX studios to embrace cutting-edge technologies in adult entertainment, including VR porn and Deepfake porn. As the porn studio’s director said, “It’s a whole new era” in porn.

U.K.’s New Porn Law Is Being Challenged In Court

A pair of activists are fighting the U.K. government’s measure to implement age-verification for online porn providers. Obscenity lawyer Myles Jackman and feminist pornographer Pandora Blake initiated a resistance campaign called ResistAV: Legal Challenge that’s currently raising funds to challenge the proposed law. They argue that porn age-verification could compromise user privacy by enabling porn website users’ personal data to be collected, open to hacking, or sold to third-parties.

The U.K. government would not provide the software to require users to verify their age, but instead would rely on third-parties—the major concern for privacy and porn advocates. Activists argue this could potentially lead to data misuse or data breaches if personal identifiers are collected, stored improperly, or sold. “Without specific privacy controls embedded in the legislation, there is a very real risk of U.K. adults’ porn habits being outed. The government’s ill-conceived age-verification regime puts up to 25 million U.K. adults at risk,” said the activists.

Porn Bots Co-Opted Kings of Leon ‘Sex on Fire’

It seems Kings of Leon have some unexpected fans: porn bots! Ten years after the band’s biggest hit, “Sex on Fire,” the song has now become a shortcut for online adult entertainment. If you search the song by name, you’ll quickly find several X-rated links.

Not only that, but the XXX links take you to cam girls that don’t really exist, at least not in the physical sense. These porn bots took the sex anthem of the 2000s—which the band said was meant to be a sexy tribute to fucking—to the next level, literally. Maybe the band should start dedicating the song to all the porn bots that continue to keep the hot sex burning!

InfoWars Alex Jones Caught With Trans Porn On His Phone

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has been caught red-handed with trans porn, despite his transphobic broadcasts. The host behind InfoWars was hocking his “personal wellness” products on live TV, when he clicked on an open tab on his phone that revealed a page called “Naughty tbabe Marissa Mi…” The term “tbabe” is used in transgender porn, and the star that appears on Jones’ phone is believed to be Marissa Minx who is described as “Australia’s #1 Trans Companion/XXXAdult Model.”

While Jones hasn’t commented on the X-rated content on his phone, Minx said, “I think it’s great he’s watching my work. I had heard of InfoWars before… Hi Alex Jones! Happy to give you a free membership to my site, or maybe you could have me on your show for a discussion?” Jones has been kicked off YouTube, Facebook and Spotify for his anti-transgender and homophobic rants, and he also once compared drag queens to pedophiles. For a guy who claims “trannies” are going to hell, he sure has some ‘splaining to do…

Looking for something X-rated? We’ve got all the hottest adult entertainment—and absolutely no hate—here at NiteFlirt!

Pornhub Gets Into The Awards-Show Game

Now you can enjoy Pornhub out of cyberspace, with tens of millions of users giving it a hand (no pun intended). The porn mega-site will be hosting its very own awards show IRL. The New York Post reports, “The move will have Pornhub going head to head against adult entertainment awards stalwarts like the XBIZ Awards and the 35-year-old Adult Video News Awards, aka porn’s Oscars.”

Pornhub will be unlike all other porn awards, however, since it will rely on data it collects from its site to choose the winners. This is a major shift from porn awards like the AVNs, which use a committee of porn stars and professionals to determine the year’s best adult entertainment. The first-ever Pornhub Awards will be hosted by none other than porn superstar Asa Akira, and will also be available to watch via livestream or to “attend” in virtual reality through social VR world, Oasis.
