Hugh Hefner (1926-2017)

Hugh Hefner died on Wednesday, September 27, aged 91. We here at the NiteFlirt blog usually keep things light, with fun stories and joke lists and whatnot, but Hef was a pioneer for free speech and sexual expression in the United States. And Playboy wasn’t just a men’s magazine with sexy pictures and implied smoking-jacket-casual manhood; it left a mark (or burn mark, depending on your personal ethics) on the landscape of American culture.

Playboy launched and solidified artists and writers like Ray Bradbury and Kurt Vonnegut Jr. It provided in-depth insight into the US and world economies. The women featured in its pages were launched into the public eye, and a few like Pam Anderson and Jenna Jameson were launched into the friggin’ stratosphere. Was it kitschy and misogynistic? Could easily be (and has often been) seen that way, but it did lend a hand in casualizing – normalizing – the thing that keeps our species making more of our species, as an unofficial godfather of the sexual revolution.

The original playboy himself wasn’t some saint, both standing up for LGBTQIA groups in the 1950s and civil rights in the 1960s while being accused of being a pimp (could be argued) and a corruptive influence on “the youth” (seriously, what impactful person HASN’T been accused of corruption of those nebulous “youth”?). But we here will remember him for his contributions to not only publishing, but enjoying a little sexy fun in private without a government hovering over our collective shoulders about it.

So our hats (and pants) off to the late head of the magazine that millions of growing teenagers hid under their beds, kept dads hiding that cardboard box in the back of the closet, and changed the USA one sticky-paged free speech fight at a time. Come celebrate the fun of that sexual revolution he embodied, right here at NiteFlirt, and keep the good times rolling!

Playboy Has Gone Back To Nudity

6158989304_6606729f1e_mIt seemed like the end of an era when Playboy announced that its January/February 2016 issue featuring Pamela Anderson on the cover would be the final one with full frontal nudity. The first no-nude issue featured a model who was sexting, in a technically nude spread, with her hands strategically placed over her nipples and crotch. Well recently, Hugh Hefner’s son, Cooper, has complained about Playboy’s new direction, and as the latest chief creative officer, it’s been his mission to abolish the no-nude policy.

Apparently, eliminating nudity made it easier to sell Playboy in stores, but the decision caused subscription sales to plummet. The March/April issue is aptly titled “Naked Is Normal,” and the magazine is promising—you guessed it—lots and lots of nudity. Cooper said in a statement, “I’ll be the first to admit the way in which the magazine portrayed nudity was dated, but removing it entirely was a mistake. Nudity was never the problem, because nudity isn’t a problem. Today, we’re taking our identity back and rediscovering who we are.” Perhaps Playboy’s attempts at rebranding is pointless—nudity will always be in style!

Trump’s Appearance In a Porn Surfaces Amidst Miss Universe Controversy

Remember that time Donald Trump slut shamed Miss Universe by telling everyone they should go check out her sex tape? Well, the Republican presidential nominee just put his foot in his mouth. Again. It seems Trump forgot about that time he made an appearance in a Playboy adult film.

“Trump’s role in the porn is relatively benign and centers around him breaking a bottle of champagne on a Playboy-branded limo while several of the playmates are visiting New York City,” reported Buzzfeed, who found the sex tape in New York–based adult video store Cinema Cornucopia. “Other scenes from the film feature fully nude women posing in sexual positions, dancing naked, touching themselves while naked, touching each other sensually, rubbing honey on themselves, taking a bath, and dressing in costumes.” Surely Trump’s heard the saying “Keep your own doorstep clean”? Perhaps he needs to apply that proverb to his career in dirty adult films!

Behind the Scenes Pictures of Playboy Photoshoots

coverBeloved long-time Playboy photographer Patrick Van Dam recently published a photographer book called Playboy Behind The Scenes. It’s a collection of images showing all the work that goes into an iconic Playboy spread. From the right lighting to positioning the centerfolds at the perfect angle, the pictures prove that it takes a dedicated team of people to make the erotic magic happen.

As Beautiful Decay pointed out, the pictures show the calculated reality of making beautiful people even more beautiful. Hugh Hefner himself wrote in Van Dam’s book, “In these compelling images, Patrick has captured the soul of the Playboy shoot and offered a true celebration of, and homage to, the people who make these beautiful things happen. Vividly here is the intimacy, the fun, and the dedication it takes to create the very best in contemporary erotica.” You can see photographers getting very up close and personal with the models (in one picture, a photographer literally has his camera between a centerfold’s spread legs!). There’s a person who positions the model’s hands in very erroneous places, and one who sprinkles water onto a nude model crawling along the sand on all fours. Now that’s dedication!

Playboy Announces It Will Stop Publishing Photos of Nude Women

Image Source: flickr.com:photos:mattybravo62 years after Playboy published its first iconic issue featuring Marilyn Monroe, the famous magazine has announced that it will stop publishing nude photos of women. Though Playboy became a cultural institution partly because of its nude models and centerfolds that were once considered risqué, today the men’s magazine is ready to move on from naked bunnies in pursuit of a larger audience. Thankfully, they still plan on featuring gorgeous women in titillating spreads—but the women will no longer bare all for the cameras.

Playboy claims that because nudity is now so ubiquitous thanks to internet porn, the world no longer needs a magazine that showcases the female body. Playboy said, “You could argue that nudity is a distraction for us and actually shrinks our audience rather than expands it.” The magazine wants to return to its status as a respectable literary and cultural magazine, like in its heydey when it published interviews with folks like Martin Luther King Jr., and ran stories by Margaret Atwood and Norman Mailer. The website has been nudity-free for the last year, and has increased its users by four times since the switch. Looks like people will need to start actually reading Playboy “for the articles.”

Looking for something titillating? We’ll never stop baring all at NiteFlirt!

Playboy Bunny/Mermaid Explains Mermaid Fetish

Trina Mason is a mermaid/model so popular that she was just voted by her Facebook and Twitter fetish fans to be part of Playboy’s Miss Social competition. A mermaid/model, in case you’re wondering, is someone who makes her living by modeling as a “hot wet mermaid.” She has her own hotline and makes videos of herself swimming and holding her breath under water for her aquaphile fans, or those with mermaid and water-based fetishes. best_phone_sex_niteflirt_mermaid_trina_mason

This mermaid even take requests from her kinky fetish fans, who ask her to do things like photograph herself underwater in stockings or a sweater. But she explains that a lot of the mermaid fetishists get off to watching the contractions her belly makes as she holds her breath while submerged under water. She also admits that she is an aquaphile, and even participates in Merpalooza when she’s not performing for fetishists in her shiny bustier and mermaid tail.

Want to have some hot, wet fetish fun with us? The kinkier the better!
