Women Can Have 3 Types Of Orgasms, Study Finds

The saying “good things always come in threes” has been proven correct by scientists—for women’s orgasms, anyway. A male professor known globally as the “the vagina scientist” has found that women orgasm in three distinct ways. The most common type of orgasm is called “the wave,” where women reach climax through waves of tension and release via the pelvic floor muscles.

The second type of orgasm is dubbed “an avalanche”—women who experience this type of orgasm usually have higher tension in their pelvic floor which suddenly lowers when they come. Meanwhile, the third type of orgasm is a “volcano,” as it sees the pelvic floor stay steady at a lower tension before suddenly “exploding” at climax. The scientists plan to use the dirty data to conduct larger scale studies on the female orgasm.

‘Love Hormone’ Could Be To Blame For Male Sex Addiction, Study Says

New research suggests there may be a scientific reason for some men’s insatiable sexual appetites. A new study published in the Endocrine Society’s Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism found that men with “hypersexual disorder” have “significantly higher” levels of oxytocin in their system. Oxytocin, aka the “love hormone,” is naturally produced by both men and women and helps fuel positive emotions—but too much of it can have serious consequences.

The study examined 64 males with hypersexual disorder, as well as 38 men who reported ordinary levels of sexual interest and arousal, and found “significant positive correlations between oxytocin levels and the rating scales measuring hypersexual behavior.” The study’s co-author says, “Oxytocin plays an important role in sex addiction and may be a potential drug target for future pharmacological treatment.” Interestingly, the levels of oxytocin in the sex-addicted men significantly reduced after they underwent cognitive behavioral therapy—appearing to confirm that sex addiction can successfully be treated without pharmaceuticals.

Men With These Personality Traits Have More Sex: Study

sexy-scientistIt seems science can explain why certain men seem to get laid a lot. An Australian sex study which featured 3,000 men and 1,500 women looked at sexual preferences and personality traits to determine the factors that lead to more sex. The study found that males who are more extroverted, conscientious and emotionally stable reportedly had higher levels of sexual frequency.

Researchers believe women are attracted to these traits: “Women are more discerning than men when it comes to sex, and they’re looking for qualities in a man that would indicate stability, that they’ll stick around.” The study also saw that personality played a larger factor in the amount of sex men have. For females, higher agreeableness was the only personality trait that increased their chances of fucking more.

People Who Laugh At Themselves Make Better Lovers, Study Says

genie-lampIf you wanna get down and dirty in the bedroom, you gotta learn to clown. According to a new study, people who have a self-deprecating sense of humor have more fun in the sack—especially women. On the other hand, those who fear being laughed at reported lower sexual satisfaction and were less content in their relationships overall.

Laughing at one’s self seems to be the trick to being good in bed, since partners were less happy with lovers who they need to walk on eggshells around. Respondents who said their humor relies more on mocking or ridiculing others also reported greater levels of conflict in their relationship. So there you have it: gotta make ’em laugh before you make ’em cum!

Electric Shock Gives Women Better Orgasms, Study Shows

Image Source: Flickr.com | WillVisionIf you’re looking for a libido boost, it seems a good zap on the ankle might just be what you need. A promising new study suggests that electrode stimulation could help women with a diminished sex drive. The test subjects involved in the study either received a zap near the tibial nerve on one of their ankles, or in their genital area.

Eight of the women—or 50 percent—revealed they found it easier to get aroused, had more natural lubrication and had more intense orgasms after the zapping. One woman told the research team: “I’m not 100 per cent back to the way I was, but I can have orgasms again and they are pretty good ones.” Ankle stimulation works because nerves that travel down to the foot overlap near the spinal cord with those that head to the pelvic organs. Here’s hoping a good buzz can help women get off!

Television Kills Your Sex Life, New Study Finds

LessSexHere’s a good reason to pawn your TV: people who own televisions are six percent less likely to have sex in any given week, new research suggests. According to scientists from the University of Delaware, people around the world are showing “willingness to substitute electronic companionship for human companionship.” What’s more, the researchers speculate that six percent is probably a “conservative estimate.”

They claim that “television is associated with sex life morbidity,” while smartphones may actually be “the real sex-life killer.” The study looked at data from nearly four million people in 80 countries, finding the average person had sex just three times a month in 2010, compared to five in 1990. The study’s lead researcher singled out the popular HBO series Game of Thrones, pointing out that TV used to “close down at 10.30pm” with couples having “nothing else to do.”

Regular Marijuana Users Have More Sex

Couple making love in bedA new study is proving what weed smokers have known all along: smoking pot can increase your sex drive. The study, published in Journal of Sexual Medicine, found that people who smoke more weed also have more sex. Researchers looked at data of more than 50,000 people and found a definite link between regular marijuana usage and more frequent sex.

Women who smoked pot had sex an average of 7.1 times month, compared with 6 times per month for those who don’t smoke. The results were similar for men: 6.9 times a month for daily weed smokers, and 5.6 times a month for non-smokers. Researchers aren’t sure whether marijuana caused people to have sex more frequently or not, but they had this to say: “We don’t want people to smoke to improve sexual function, but it probably doesn’t hurt things.”

This Is The Amount Of Sex You Have, According To Your Age

Image Source: Flickr.com | Richard FosterA recent study claims to know how much sex you are having—just by looking at one piece of information. It turns out one of the main predictors for how often you get off is your age. Not surprisingly, those who are getting the most action are younger people, aged 18 to 29, who have sex an average of 112 times a year, or twice weekly.

In your 30s, you get laid slightly less, with 86 times a year or 1.6 times a week. Unfortunately, it seems 40 to 49-year-olds have half the amount of sex of their 20-something counterparts, with 69 (a very good number!) fuck fests a year. Researchers say the takeaway is to be proactive about health and well-being, all throughout life—especially when it comes to your sex life.

These Are The Types Of People Who Are Having The Best Sex

A recent study published in Scientific American found that being a little obsessed with sex may lead to being less satisfied in bed. Individuals who exhibit what researches call “obsessive sexual passion”—which is defined as having an urgent need for sex and immediate gratification—tend to enjoy sex less. The study recommends a “harmonious” approach to sex rather than an obsessive one, where people incorporate sexuality into other parts of their lives.

sexy-scientistWhile passion is still important, participants who were seen to embody harmonious sexual passion showed greater control over their sexual desires, and had less sexually intrusive thoughts. For those who showcased obsessive sexual passion, long-term, satisfying relationships were harder to achieve. According to the study, the key to enjoying sex more is to harness passion in ways that bring joy to all aspects of your life.
