Amsterdam Is Considering Banning Its Red Light District

Holland is considering a ban on paid sex, which could leave the future of Amsterdam’s famous red light district uncertain. The Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) is pushing (again) for paying for sex to be a punishable offense. The debate is being revived by the CDA in the Dutch parliament to supposedly protect “mostly women who are treated unequally.”

The CDA would like to follow a legal model similar to Sweden, where the buyer is prosecuted but prostitutes are not. The CDA’s coalition partners are reportedly opposed to the ban, saying it will only drive prostitution underground. Thankfully, it has been claimed that the chance of criminalizing paid sex in the Netherlands is extremely low due to this opposition.

Giant Boobs Floating In Amsterdam Canals To Celebrate Women’s Day

Amsterdam is celebrating women on International Women’s Day with a flock of giant breasts floating down its canals. A team of women created the installation to float on the Dutch capital’s canals to showcase a “delightful diversity of boobs.” In part, the boob-display is meant to promote “freeing the nipple” on social media and in public.

The boob’s creators say, “we believe all breasts are wonderfully equal. No judgment here.” A wide variety of breasts – small to big, fake to pierced, in an array of shapes and skin tones – are floating down the Amsterdam canals to highlight that “they’re just boobs.” They say, “Let’s set them free, and support their fundamental rights as funbags this International Women’s Day with the hashtag #JustBoobs.”

You Can Exchange Sex for Driving Lessons in Holland

thumbsupDriving instructors in Holland can legally slip into the backseat for payment for lessons. Cabinet ministers have been discussing the issue and determined that there’s nothing wrong with exchanging “a ride for a ride.” After long debate, Dutch News reported the parliament reached this conclusion on the controversial practice: offering driving lessons for sex did not equal prostitution “since sex was not being sold.”

However, they also determined that a student asking to exchange sex for lessons was not allowed. Although prostitution is legal in the Netherlands, since there’s no way to tax students, i.e, non-sex workers, “a ride for a ride” would not be legal. So as long as the instructor makes the deal, two consenting adults have the thumbs up from their government to go on a joy ride. Apparently, web searches for driving lessons in exchange of sex are on the rise. Now that’s what we call a good Driver’s Ed course!
