Sex Is “Highly Important” To Middle-Aged Women, Study Says

You’re never too old for fun in the bedroom, according to a new study from University of Pittsburgh. Hitting midlife can still turn up the heat among women—in ways many might not expect. Thousands of women aged 45 to 60 were asked about their sex lives, and more than a quarter said sex was “highly important” when they got to middle age.

Not only that, but they were also more likely to have better sexual satisfaction with their partners—even into their senior years. A middle-aged TV presenter echoed the point, saying “People say, ‘Oh, it’s all gone… menopause… you’re finished.’ It’s really important to say that people in their 50s are having the time of their lives.” Sex is like a fine wine—it gets better with age!

Study Finds Middle-Aged People Have More Adventurous Sex

oldsexWorried that sex will never be as good as when you were young? Think again. A new study commissioned by the Trojan and the Sex Information and Education Council of Canada asked 2,400 Canadians, between 40 and 59, to reveal their sexual habits. And as it turns out, middle-age is prime time for exciting, satisfying sex!

“There is a public perception that as we age, sex becomes less important, less enjoyable and less frequent,” says Dr. Robin Milhausen, sexuality and relationship researcher. “The study findings indicate that most midlife Canadians are indeed leading satisfying and active sexual lives.” Nearly two-thirds of those surveyed said they had a pleasurable experience last time they had sex, which for a good majority of respondents is pretty often—at least once a week for two in five people. And not only is the sex good and frequent, but a whooping “63 percent said they felt more adventurous sexually than they did a decade ago, wanting to try new things for better satisfaction,” reports Huffington Post.
