Artist Creates Music With Her Vibrator

When music artist and producer Von goes to parties, she gets recognized for her unorthodox way of producing music: “Everyone’s like, ‘You’re the vibrator girl,’” she said in a recent interview. Using the Lioness’ smart vibrator, Von is able to create beats using the contractions of her pussy that occur when she orgasms. Von then converts the wavelength of her orgasm into a soundwave.

“You can change [the parameters of an orgasm] to literally anything you want,” she explained. “I just happen to change it to amplitude over time, which is sound.” In a viral TikTok explaining her process, Von says she picks part of the waveform shown on the Lioness app, inputs the waveform into Serum (a wave table synth), and then “[messes] with” the wave form until she gets a beat she likes. With over 12K followers on TikTok and almost 5,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, Von releases original tracks and remixes featuring her signature “irreplicable” beats.

Smart Sex Toy Is Finalist For 2020 CES Award

This is the first year that sex technology products can qualify for awards or be showcased, following last year’s controversy that many called sexist. This year the Lioness smart vibrator is making history in the tech-focused CES 2020 show.

The Lioness smart vibrator, created by the Oakland, California startup, calls itself the first vibrator to use data, its patented biofeedback technology, to improve the user’s sexual experience. Lioness also says that it’s the first vibrator company to have public ads at bus stops across San Francisco. “We’re so happy to be officially launching at CES, who has invited sex tech companies to participate for the first time ever,” said Lioness Chief Executive and co-founder.

For $230, Indiegogo customers can have their own “enhanced” rabbit, with soft-touch washable silicone, a long dildo for insertion and another small component for clit stimulation. The Lioness’ maker wanted to reinvent the shape of the iconic sex toy, and began making “copies upon copies upon copies” on a 3D printer until she finally landed on the right shape.

“We did a lot of variations in terms of the shape and angle—like the tapering,” she said. Even the shape of the clit stimulator was labored over—there’s a little bump to ensure it can “bury” into the clit. It’s also flexible to avoid the unpleasant clitoral “jabbing” the original rabbit is known for.
