Researchers believe that East Asia may have a “Japanese fetish.” According to PornMD, eight disparate East Asian countries all share the same kinky penchant for Japanese porn. Data shows that while people from a country will most often seek out porn of their own nationality (In the Philippines, they search for Filipinos, and so on), in these East Asian countries, they all search for “Japan.”
Even though South Koreans love them some American porn, “Japanese” remains one of the most popular search terms there and in every other East Asian country. This could have to do with the massiveness of Japan’s porn industry, which rakes in 20 billion dollars annually and popularized anime and hentai/tentacle porn. Or perhaps a different phenomenon is at play: the Guardian recently reported that many people in Japan have stopped having sex because it takes too much effort.
