He found his models on FetLife, a “social network for the BDSM and fetish community,” that describes itself as “similar to Facebook and MySpace but run by kinksters like you and me.” His ongoing series, “The Fetlife” takes viewers into the homes of kinksters, submissives, cosplay enthusiasts, and other “sexual deviants” all over New York City.

Some of his photographs include role-play, dominatrixes, foot fetishists, rope-play, age-play, bondage, and cross-dressing. The photographer’s intent is to familiarize, not exoticize, his unique subjects. His experience with Fetlife has also taught him about gender and sexual identity: “It’s been really interesting meeting people who fully accept who they are and aren’t afraid to express themselves honestly.”

The survey asked 241 women and 159 men about their sexual fantasies and found that the most common fantasy is having sex with multiple people at the same time, which 17.6% reported thinking about during masturbation.

Other popular sexual fantasies include role play, BDSM, and having an affair. Surprisingly, only 3% of respondents said they get turned on by the idea of public sex. “The big take-away from this data is that we are all more alike than we may think,” a researcher told Refinery29. “There’s safety in numbers, and if our survey can help people feel more comfortable in the knowledge that others share their thoughts on threesomes and role play, for example, perhaps it can lead to more fulfilling sex lives for all.”
