On TikTok, the #spicybooks has hundreds and thousands of views, and searches using the hashtag surface videos of women sharing sexy books or posting lines from their favorite romance novels. Similarly, the Facebook group SpicyTok has more than 150,000 members, featuring women constantly posting call-outs for smutty romance recommendations. “Women may be drawn to erotic literature because it offers a safe and private space to explore their sexuality without fear of judgment or social stigma,” sex toy retailer LoveHoney said of the racy trend. “Erotic literature can provide a way to explore sexual fantasies and desires in a way that is not possible in real-life sexual encounters.”

A new comedy series set in 1970s Los Angeles tells the story of a woman and a porn publisher who created the first erotic magazine for women. The pair navigate their way through LA’s porn scene with the goal of “leveling the playing field between the sexes.” They join forces to launch Minx, an X-rated magazine for women, through the adult company Bottom Dollar Publications.

What results is a publication that divides the community, with some describing it as “filth” with “no place” in the community, while others view it as revolutionary. “I’m so grateful to Feigco, Lionsgate and HBO Max for seeing the potential in this story from the first time I showed up in their offices with stacks of ’70s porn magazines,” said the show’s creator. “Making Minx with our ridiculously talented cast was a dream come true and I’m just thrilled that I get to do it again.”

Snapchat CEO’s Sister Creates Popular Erotic App

The “audio porn” app created by the sister of Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel is gaining traction as it recently surpassed 300,000 subscribers. Some creators can earn as much as $5,000 per month by submitting stories which users can access for $2.99 per month. The app’s popularity has earned it more than 100,000 followers on TikTok as well as a specially-branded podcast that focuses on issues like body image, dating, and women’s rights. “It’s not watered down. It’s not what people think women want. It’s made directly in response to what women want—and that is something new.”

Museums Join OnlyFans To Keep ‘Explicit’ Art From Social Media Censors

Museums have found a clever way to circumvent censorship on more explicit artworks: OnlyFans. Amid increased social media crackdowns on risqué museum imagery, Vienna, Austria’s tourism board has created “Vienna Strips on OnlyFans.” Art enthusiasts can view a collection of randy works by Egon Schiele, Amedeo Modigliani and other artists whose works were previously banned on social media.

Meanwhile, those who subscribe early to the “ViennaTouristBoard” OnlyFans can get a free ticket to view the racy pieces “in the flesh” at one of the city’s museums. The migration to the XXX site is a reaction to social media crackdowns on museum accounts, which saw Vienna’s Albertina museum’s TikTok suspended and eventually banned for showcasing art by Nobuyoshi Araki, whose photographs often depict nude women. Vienna’s tourism board hopes that moving explicit art content to OnlyFans will ultimately help “start a conversation” about the problems with social media censorship.

Dutch Government Urges Lonely Citizens To Find A “Sex Buddy”

The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) had been criticized for not offering “sex advice for singles” during the pandemic. A total of 645 straight women from 21 countries took part, and the average time to reach orgasm was 13 minutes and 25 seconds. Researchers asked women to start a stopwatch when they became sexually aroused, and stop it again when they climaxed.

They defined the moment of becoming aroused as “an intense desire for sex in the presence of erotic stimuli, which were provided by the partner, audiovisual methods or both.” Around one in six of those who took part said they never climaxed during intercourse; for the rest, the time it took ranged from 5 minutes 42 seconds to just over 21 minutes. Almost nine in ten of those who took part in the research reported longer-lasting sensations when they were positioned on top.
