Sex Toys Now Sold At Mainstream Retailers

It seems you can buy a lot more than lipstick at Sephora these days. Sephora recently became the latest retailer to offer vibrators, lubricants, oils, and butt plugs from boutique startups like Maude and Dame under the category of “sexual wellness.” Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom started offering these products last year.

Executives said that popular attitudes, particularly among millennials and the Gen Z crowd, have changed as they relate to sex, and big name retailers are responding to the ever-changing needs of their customer base. “People are spending more time, energy and disposable income on their own wellness, so it was natural that this expanded to sexual wellness,” said Bloomingdale’s vice president. The CEO of Dame told the Times: “Each time somebody puts us in their store, especially a major player like Sephora, it makes it easier for other people to put in their store, easier for investors to invest in us and easier for customers to buy us.”

The Very Raunchy History Of Sex In The Middle Ages

Katherine Harvey’s illuminating novel The Fires of Lust: Sex in the Middle Ages offers a peek into the sexual beliefs and bedrooms of ordinary medieval men and women living in western Europe. Erections were believed to be the result of a “windy spirit,” meaning those suffering with impotence were advised to eat foods which caused wind and bloating like chickpeas. Too much sex was said to be very dangerous because it could cause the body to dry out, leading to hair loss, heart and lung problems, and kidney failure.

German Dominican friar Albertus Magnus recounted the story of one unfortunate monk who died because he lusted over a woman so much his “brain had shrunk to the size of a pomegranate, and his eyes had been destroyed.” Medieval doctors believed, however, that there was a connection between sexual pleasure and reproduction: it was thought that both men and women had to have an orgasm simultaneously for conception to occur. With this in mind, foreplay was encouraged by medieval doctors—with some even suggesting men apply chewed peppers to his penis to cause his wife “incredible delectation.”

A New Survey Reveals India’s Kinky Side

A dating app revealed all of India’s dirty secrets between the sheets. Tinder surveyed 1,500 singles in the 18-34 age group across seven urban Indian cities about their sexual preferences. It turns out, a majority of people in India are down to getting kinky in bed, with 71 percent of them saying they’re up for innovating, regardless of the age group.

Most of them also revealed that they feel freer and more open to experimentation when they’re fucking casually or having a one-night stand. Most people said they prefer to fuck at night, while 32 percent could get going at any time of the day, and a very small 8 percent were all about morning sex. It seems for urban Indian Gen Z and millennials, there’s a lot of hot action happening!

Brits Seek Threesomes At Record Number

After months together in lockdown, British couples are looking to spice up their sex lives with threesomes, a new study reveals. Dating app Feeld, which is designed for “open-minded” people, has reported a significant rise in the number of British users seeking threesomes since January 2020. The app—which allows couples to seek a “plus one” for their ménage à trois, or singletons to find people to fuck—said threesomes are listed as the most popular desire for singles, with a more than 670 percent increase.

There has also been a 50 percent increase in the number of couples seeking threesomes on the app. Researchers speculate the spike in threesomes is likely because couples are bored of their sexual routines since the pandemic. Horny people want to “live each day as if it is their last,” which means being more sexually adventurous.

Men Who Sport Luxury Logos Are More Likely To Cheat

Forget about looking through your partner’s phone to catch him two-timing—just look at his clothes. New research shows that men who wear extravagant fashions with large luxury logos embroidered on them are more likely to be untrustworthy, according to a University of Michigan study. Men who own tees with larger brand emblems were “rated higher on mating effort, lower on parental investment,” researchers said—meaning they have a higher interest in engaging in brief sexual affairs.

These men are also less interested in having long-term and committed romantic relationships, the study showed. Not only that, but they are less attracted to women who want these long-term relationships compared to men who own shirts with a smaller logo. “Rather than being a reliable and honest signal of future paternal investment, displays of luxury goods may sometimes represent investment in mate attraction, which is at the expense of future investment in offspring,” said the study’s lead author.

Pornhub To Release First Non-Porn Movie

Pornhub is releasing its first ever non-adult film in hopes of expanding audiences and diversifying its content. The movie is a documentary called “Shakedown” about the queer women and men who populated the lesbian strip club scene in Los Angeles in the early aughts. The film’s director was intrigued by Pornhub since she’s specifically hoping to engage Pornhub’s female users.

Pornhub says, “This film is part of a larger general commitment Pornhub has to supporting the arts. We want to be seen as a platform that artists and creators can use.” Repped by distributor Grasshopper, the movie will stream on Pornhub for free for the entire month of March before hitting broadcast on the Criterion Channel, and, finally, the iTunes store by summer. Pornhub adds, “We’ve seen artists in general upload content to the site, that might not have a home at places like YouTube or Vimeo, who don’t permit nudity. For us, premiering a feature length film is a first. We’re very excited about it.”

Ancient Humans Learned To Smile So They Could Get Laid

adult-1822413_640According to a new study, our earliest ancestors smiled as a way to get some. A team of scientists claim that smiling was a key factor in our evolution, especially because it was a way to attract less-aggressive mates. Researchers focused on genetic samples from Neanderthals, which showed that gene mutations may have led humans to “self-select less aggressive mating partners.”

The researchers concluded from this that humans were selecting mates with “I probably won’t kill you” facial expressions more commonly than their ancestors. It has long been suspected that humans developed smiles to enhance mating options but this is thought to be the study with the first definitive evidence. Thanks for the leg-up in the bedroom, horny ancestors!

There’s A New ‘Tiny Penis’ Emoji

wtf-1780728_640People have long-ago figured out how to turn seemingly innocuous emojis into raunchy symbols. First there was the eggplant emoji, and now there’s the ‘pinching hand’ emoji. “Finally, an emoji to explain how small my ex used to be down there,” tweeted @fifthdumbledore after the new images were released.

The hand gesture suggesting someone has a ‘tiny penis’ is among 230 new emojis released for 2019. The Unicode Consortium, the organization behind the new emojis, says the new pic is supposed to be a ‘pinching hand’ gesture, meaning a ‘small amount’ — but Twitter users aren’t buying it. “FINALLY a small dick emoji,” tweeted Twitter user @KathBarbadoro. For something so tiny, this new emoji seems like the next big thing!

There’s Now A Minimalist Sex Toy Brand

If Marie Kondo ever made a line of sex products, it would probably look a lot like this new lifestyle brand. Maude has minimalist vibrators, condoms, and organic lubricants for your aesthetic and erotic pleasure. The gender neutral brand wants to make sex products accessible, inclusive, and most importantly, really beautiful on your nightstand.

Maude was founded by two women (who formally worked at Everlane) who describe it as a “modern sex essentials company.” The creators say, “Our take is that sex is human and is an everyday (and can be every day) experience, so we created this company to simplify sex and to encourage a happy and healthy sex life for all people.” Best of all, the products are designed to blend perfectly with your minimalist style, allowing you to live your (sex) life out loud.

The Solar Eclipse Had A Big Impact On Porn Searches

It’s definitely clear by now that people will search for whatever porn might be tied to a big cultural event (think presidential candidate porn during the election, for example). But surprisingly, the recent solar eclipse did not have that effect—it seems people actually went outside to view the rare celestial event instead of searching for the best eclipse-themed adult entertainment! Porn site xHamster reported a huge drop in traffic all over the country around and during the eclipse.

Traffic from 7350054890_99bf861756_othe cities in the path of totality dropped as much as 50%, but even cities that only got to see a partial eclipse saw dramatic drops in xHamster traffic. According to the site, traffic soared right afterward—jumping to 85%! “It just goes to show that porn stars can never compete with real stars.” said xHamster. “Of course, you won’t burn your eyes looking at ours.”
