DC Comics Announces Its New Superman Will Come Out As Bi

Superman is going through some changes. The “closeted” superhero will finally get to reveal his true identity—as a bisexual. DC Comics recently announced that its new Superman will come out as bi in the upcoming issue “Superman: Son of Kal-El” #5, by writer Tom Taylor and artist John Timms.

Jonathan Kent, the 17-year-old son of Clark Kent and reporter Lois Lane, has all the same powers as his dad—and even falls for a cute reporter. In the new comic, Lois Lane will be replaced by Kent’s hacker friend, Jay Nakamura. “The idea of replacing Clark Kent with another straight white savior felt like a missed opportunity,” Taylor told The New York Times. “For so many people, having the strongest superhero in comics come out is incredibly powerful.”

Twitter Users Guess Which Fictional Villains Are Based On Sexual Fetishes

9741737763_d422cd07c8_zComic book writer Gail Simone asked Twitter users which villains they suspect are manifestations of creators’ sexual fetishes. “Um…my bet is on EVERY villain/villainess is based on a sexual fetish,” Twitter user @amenakamel wrote. “But Catwoman is glaringly obvious — hello BDSM.” Another user added, “I pretty much assume Chris Claremont was extremely horny for all 26 years he was writing X-Men.”

In fact, most of the thread was dedicated to Claremont, who co-created the Hellfire Club, a fictional society inspired by the real-life Victorian-era secret society in which aristocrats drank, had kinky sex, and tried to summon the devil. Somebody added, “I’m sorry Chris but you seem to like ladies who would literally step on you.” And as it turns out, a lot of Claremont’s work seems to feature tentacles. Kinky comic nerds…

Meet the Stripper Comedian Baring It All While Getting Laughs

iStock_000009106859MOST-SMALLWendy Weiss is a seasoned, beloved stripper in Portland, Oregon—who is also a comedian! While she admits “you definitely piss off a lot more people doing comedy than showing them your vagina,” she still boldly straddles being both a comedian and a stripper. Not only that, but by stripping and telling jokes, she’s changing the way female comics talk about sex.

She hosts a monthly show that has comics take off their clothes while trying to make people laugh. She explains that comedy got her through her early days of stripping, when she was such a bad dancer that she “would just plop down and tell jokes.” Now as a stripper comedian, she’s trying to normalize sex, and talk about it in a way that challenges stereotypes: “Sex is either portrayed as sad because they don’t have it, or women are sluts because they do,” Weiss says. “I’ll be like, ‘So I was having sex and this weird thing happened,’ or, ‘This lady said something super-racist at an orgy, isn’t that weird?’” Wendy Weiss really can do it all on a stage!
