Scientists Want To Send 6.7 Million Sperm Samples To The Moon

Scientists have ambitions for repopulating our species—with a sperm bank on the moon. In what they’re calling a “modern global insurance policy,” mechanical engineers have proposed establishing a repository of 6.7 million sperm samples via 250 rocket launches to the moon. The proposed bank, or “ark,” would be beneath the moon’s surface.

“Earth is naturally a volatile environment,” said the study’s author, whose team at the University of Arizona submitted their report, “Lunar Pits and Lava Tubes for a Modern Ark.” The planetary “exodus” would store sperm in recently discovered lunar “pits” from which scientists believe lava once flowed billions of years ago. The “ark” would then cryogenically preserve the samples in the event of global disaster: “We save them for another day,” the author said.

Portland’s Oldest Strip Club Goes Virtual

Even as Portland, Oregon saw rapid changes over the decades, one thing remained constant: Mary’s Club, Portland’s oldest and most famous strip club. Now, performers at the nearly 70-year-old institution are keeping the show going—virtually. “Every Sunday, via Mary’s Instagram account or by email, viewers can purchase access to the show, which typically features a rotating cast of seven who all broadcast from their homes, and a couple of the bartenders even exchange banter in a chat room,” Willamette Week reports.

Since not every dancer has a pole in her living room, performers have gotten creative with their at-home routines. “We’ve had oil baths, we’ve had shower shows, we’ve had dancers rolling around on beds of roses,” says performer and virtual show co-producer Rocket Queen. “Mary’s Club is full of dancers who are just true entertainers and really love their job and love being onstage. We all miss it a lot. This is a fun, creative outlet.” Thank you for your service, Mary’s Club!

Quarter Of Young People Say They Would Have Sex With AI Robot

Screen Capture: RUPTLY TV

For young people, sex with humans is becoming blasé. Among people under 30, one in four says they are open to a relationship with an AI droid, according to a recent survey from a tech company. One quarter of the participants also state that they would have sex with the robots.

The cybersecurity company asked 1,000 Germans aged 16 to 30 about their perception on devices powered by artificial intelligence—finding 26 percent of young people can imagine falling in love with an AI robot specifically programmed to meet their needs. A quarter of them would consider having sex with a human-like droid, with the proportion of men nearly two times higher than women. Almost a third of the participants believe they can find their ideal human partners with the help of artificial intelligence, while 27 percent of them believe that romantic relationships created by AI can last longer.

Celebrity Backed Sex Toys Are All The Buzz

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop launched its first self-branded vibrator on Valentine’s Day—it sold out in a single day. Paltrow has been hailed as a “pioneer” in de-stigmatizing sex toys, but these days, many other celebrities are putting their stamp on pleasure products. Supermodel and “sex bench” enthusiast Cara Delevingne became the co-owner and creative adviser of sex tech company Lora DiCarlo.

“Fifty Shades of Grey” actress Dakota Johnson announced a similar new gig as the co-creative director of “modern intimacy” brand Maude. Even pop stars are feeling the buzz: Lily Allen partnered with German brand Womanizer on her very own vibrator, dubbed the “Liberty”—“the perfect duet partner to help you hit the high notes at home and away,” according to the product description. “Sex toys have become mainstream enough that a celebrity entering this field is considered edgy instead of being blacklisted,” says the author of “Buzz: A Stimulating History of the Sex Toy.”

Denmark Launches Sexual Consent App

A new sexual consent app in Denmark allows lovers to grant permission to fuck from their smartphones. The press of a button on the iConsent app gives “one intercourse” which is valid for 24 hours and can be withdrawn at any time. Developers say the app gives people the “opportunity to document your consent to intercourse” by allowing lovers to send and receive requests via their phones.

But they add that “consent in the app can never stand alone, and that it is up to you and the other party to secure your consent before, during and after intercourse.” The app has been met with a cool reception in Denmark, where one newspaper called it “as unsexy as another corona press conference.” A critic compared the app to “transferring money,” adding: “Now we’ve also created an app that removes any kind of human warmth from something we still need to be together for: sex.”

Sex Toy Innovator Returns To CES With New Vibrators Featuring Heating Technology

Lora DiCarlo has returned to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) with three new sex toys that feature warming technology to simulate body temperatures and relax muscles. The vibrators—called “Drift,” “Tilt,” and “Sway”—all boast an innovative nylon-based thermal conductive polymer, which is said to be 15 to 20 times more efficient at providing internal heating than those currently on the market. Lora DiCarlo received an “Innovation Award” in 2019, but was then disqualified because CES organizers deemed the firm’s Ose massager as “immoral, obscene, indecent and profane.”

Despite the controversy, Lora DiCarlo returned to the tech conference with twice as many sex toys. The Drift is a warming bullet vibrator with an ergonomic design that pinpoints certain areas, like the clitoris, with “powerful, intense, rumbly vibrations for deep internal and external pleasure,” reads Lora DiCarlo’s website. The Tilt and Sway simultaneously stimulate the G-spot and clitoris, or the P-spot and perineum, has seven intensity settings and three vibration patterns, and can “quickly” reach 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40C).

Sex Toy Manufacturer LELO Released A New Wave That’s Better Than The Original

Boutique sex toy manufacturer LELO has a new sex toy that is like the iconic Rabbit, only far superior. The Soraya Wave was adapted from the Soraya 2 model, a spokesman from LELO says. “The thinking behind reengineering the product with our WaveMotion technology was to appeal to a wider audience of users by offering a similar product that provided a different sensation,” they said.

“The main USP [unique selling point] of Soraya Wave is that it provides enhanced G-spot stimulation by simulating the come-hither motion of a lover’s finger tips (in contrast to G-spot stimulation via vibration alone),” they add. While the original sex toy was a hit with customers, the real game changer between the 2 and the Wave is, indeed, the WaveMotion technology. While the penetrating base of the 2 does vibrate when the toy is on, there’s substantial g-spot stimulation with the Wave—combine that with the vibrating tip for the clit and, well…Big O here we come!

BuzzFeed Created A Sex Toy Called AirVibe

BuzzFeed and Bellesa, the combination porn site and sex toy shop, announced their collaboration on a sex toy: the BuzzFeed AirVibe. It’s a dual clit sucker and G-spot stimulator that folds up into a clamshell case, which doubles as a charging unit. The AirVibe, which retails for $59, is a part of BuzzFeed’s initiative to “become an authority of sexual wellness”—and it sold out in 72 hours.

A publisher collaborating with a sex toy manufacturer has never been done before, and the CEO of Bellesa said reception for AirVibe has been overwhelmingly positive. “We’re extremely excited about the early indicators here. Big things ahead for the Bellesa X BuzzFeed partnership,” she said. AirWave has a 4.95/5 star rating on its website based on 44 reviews; the site also boasts that the toy gave “our [Bellesa’s] shortest orgasm time ever.”

Lily Allen Launches Sex Toy, Encouraging Women To Embrace Pleasure

Lily Allen has teamed up with a German sex toy brand to launch her own sex toy—and to highlight the importance of female pleasure. The British singer announced she is partnering with sex tech company Womanizer to release the “Liberty,” a sleek hot pink and orange product retailing at $99. In addition to the release of the vibrator, Allen is now the chief liberation officer at Womanizer, and is heading up the company’s #IMasturbate campaign, encouraging women to embrace their sexuality.

“Sex toys are still seen as a taboo subject because they are, you know, related to masturbation and female pleasure. I think female pleasure in itself is a taboo subject,” Allen said in a video, adding that the first time she tried sex toys was “groundbreaking.” “The only way to make taboo subjects no longer taboo is to speak about them openly and frequently and without shame or guilt,” she added. “I hope that this collaboration will lead to people feeling that they can talk more freely about masturbation and if somebody like me can talk openly about it without shame then they might feel inclined to try it out for themselves—a whole new world awaits,” Allen added.

The Apple Watch Tracks Calories Burned During Sex

While it might seem counter-intuitive, you should consider slipping on your Apple Watch before slipping into bed. Apple’s smartwatch is highly sensitive to users’ physical activity—which definitely includes sexual activity. It turns out Apple’s popular wearable tracks calories burned during sexual activity, including masturbation.

But be warned: it may place customers in embarrassing or violating scenarios, too. Last year, one Apple Watch user on Reddit claimed he accidentally revealed his masturbation schedule to his whole family after comparing and contrasting heart rate patterns. That same year, another Watch owner said he regularly forgets to take off his Apple Watch while masturbating, which can alert his wife to when he completes his Activity goals for the day!
