Britain’s Biggest Pharmacy Chain Expands Range Of Sex Toys

UK retailer Boots has launched a new range of sex toys as part of a new sexual wellness campaign. Britain’s biggest pharmacy chain has been selling sex toys since 2004, but wants to tap further into the growing global sex toy industry. Boots said its goal is for customers to “say yes… yes… YES to our lust-worthy collection of adult toys to create a buzz in your sex life.”

The company is expanding its sexual wellbeing range with new products like vibrators, cock rings, butt plugs, and lube in some of its 2,485 UK stores and online. Research by Censuswide showed only 7 per cent of people prioritize sex compared to other ways of boosting wellbeing such as sleep, fitness and nutrition. Sex therapists are applauding Boots, saying: “It’s incredibly encouraging to work with a major brand like Boots to facilitate change and give people the confidence to assert what makes them feel good.”

Queer YouTubers Are Getting In Trouble For Sex Toy Sponsorships

Queer YouTubers have been fighting with the platform and its policies for years, and now a group of LGBTQIA YouTubers filed a class-action lawsuit against YouTube for unfairly restricting and demonetizing their videos. To fund sex-ed videos, many YouTubers have turned to sponsorships with sex toy companies, which supposedly violates YouTube’s rules against “content that contains nudity and is meant to be sexually gratifying.”

One of the affected YouTubers shared the email they got from YouTube, in which a YouTube spokesperson admitted “we incorrectly issued strikes on videos with links to an adult toy site.” They added, “When this was brought to our attention, we worked quickly to resolve the strikes for all affected creators.” Mistake or not, as the class-action lawsuit indicates, some LGBTQIA YouTubers feel that their videos are placed under unfair scrutiny.

MLB Warns Players Of Gas Station Sex Pills

MLB issued a hard warning to its players: stay away from gas station sex pills. Major League Baseball recently sent a memo warning about the “very real risk” of over-the-counter sexual enhancement pills, after at least two players have blamed them for positive PED tests so far this year. The memo, which was obtained by ESPN, says the pills in question are “often contaminated with prohibited and unsafe ingredients” including anabolic steroids.

According to ESPN sources, players use these supplements so often that the league felt it was necessary to send the memo and warn players of the risks. It reminded players that anyone who tests positive for a banned substance is subject to discipline by the league—regardless of how it got into their system. “Sexual or male enhancement products present a very real risk for drug-tested players,” the memo said, “and the high likelihood for contamination or unidentified ingredients in these products underscores the importance of consuming only those products that are NSF Certified for Sport.”

Women’s sex-toy company Dame Products is suing the MTA for refusing to run its train ads while putting up similarly racy ads for male-enhancement pills, according to a lawsuit. Dame says the MTA violated First Amendment rights and engaged in sex-discrimination by turning down suggestive ads showing vibrators, sex pillows and accessories — and simultaneously allowing hyper-phallic posts for erection medicine. One rejected ad reads, “You come first. Toys for sex” and depicts a vibrator that looks like an eggplant, while another reads “Toys for sex” and shows a half-dozen vibrators that do not explicitly resemble a dick.

One for Hims erectile-dysfunction medicine reads “hard made easy” and depicts flaccid and erect cacti as stand-ins for cocks. The MTA has said it lets the male enhancement ads slip through because they are for a medication, but advertisements for “sexually oriented business” violate its rules. Dame argues that “Vibrator usage is ‘a valuable tool for health care providers in the treatment of sexual function concerns,’” citing a study published in the peer-reviewed scholarly journal “Sexual and Relationship Therapy.”

Porn Age Verification Plans Are Being Put On Hold In The UK, Again

The porn age verification system in the UK—which was supposed to start on July 15th—has been “indefinitely delayed.” It seems the system’s legal basis was apparently undermined by the government’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media, & Sport (DCMS) failing to inform the European Commission. Back in 2017, an age verification system was passed for people wanting to access porn websites, but it quickly attracted the concern of privacy campaigners worried about millions of people having to hand over potentially sensitive data.

“It might lead to people being outed,” said the executive director for privacy campaign group Open Rights Group. “It could also be you’re a teacher with an unusual sexual preference and your pupils get to know that as a result of a leak. It won’t get you sacked for viewing something legal but it could destroy your reputation.” Ultimately, the government agreed, issuing a statement saying, “While it’s very embarrassing to delay age verification for the third time, this is an opportunity for the Government to address the many problems that this ill-thought through policy poses.”

Hacked Scooters Make Sexual Comments To Riders

E-scooters in Australia had some very naughty interactions with riders. It seems as many as eight Lime scooters had their audio files hacked to make sexual remarks. In a video posted to Twitter, a group of scooters can be heard making numerous statements, including “Don’t take me around, because I don’t like to be ridden.”

Another video shows a Lime scooter making a more sexually explicit comment when approached by a potential customer: “Okay, if you’re going to ride my ass then please pull my hair, okay?” says a voice from the scooter’s voice box. Lime responded to the incident in a statement: “We are aware that eight Lime scooters in Brisbane have had their audio files changed by vandals recording over the existing audio file with inappropriate and offensive speech.” This isn’t Lime’s first PR problem—other scooters were taken out of circulation earlier this year after a firmware glitch caused the front wheels to lock up unexpectedly, resulting in several customers being injured after getting launched over the handlebars.

Utah Officially Allows Citizens To Have Sex Outside Marriage

Until recently, that was a class B misdemeanor under a 1973 law that carried a possible penalty of up to six months in jail or a maximum fine of $1,000.

Though it was neither enforced or prosecuted, it wasn’t until recently that Utah signed a similar bill that repealed the misdemeanor offenses of adultery and sodomy among consenting adults. Known as “offenses against the family,” the crimes were unenforceable because of court rulings on what consenting adults can do in private. As one Utah citizen said, “Basically just like, ‘Oh thank God, I can do this thing I’ve always been doing.’”
