Virginia Just Banned Deepfake Porn

Virginia’s 2014 law banning the distribution of revenge porn has been updated to include deepfakes, or videos in which software and machine learning can create synthetic media of any person. The law makes it a Class 1 misdemeanor to share videos or photos of someone without their consent, even if it is not actually them in the video. Photoshopped images or any other manipulated media are also covered by the law, and violators can face up to $2,500 and one year in jail.

The law is going into effect after the app DeepNude was pulled by its creator due to backlash. The app used machine learning to produce videos of women without clothing from videos of them fully clothed, and comes in the wake of porn being shared on Reddit featuring the faces of famous women and the bodies of porn stars. As Daily Dot reports, “Forty-six states currently have laws barring the distribution of revenge porn, but only a handful of states have set out to legislate deepfakes.”

Cuba’s First ‘Sex Shop’

A pop-up sex store in Cuba is pushing back against the Communist-run country’s ban on selling sex toys. The pop-up includes handcrafted dildos and other supposedly “taboo” sex toys. While Cubans pride themselves on being very sexually liberal, many are close-minded regarding sex toys, according to the sex toy pop-up’s artists.

The distribution of anything deemed obscene is banned in Cuba, and there are no sex shops or licenses available to sell sex toys, leaving Cubans with no other choice than to import toys in their suitcases and sell them in secret. For the pop-up, the artists created translucent “phallic sculptures” in an array of colors from pink to green, some containing wordplay on official Cuban slogans like “Until Victory, Always.” Scarce and expensive resources in Cuba meant they had to use entwined fish line for whips and resin for dildos. “We want to break the taboos,” said the artists. “In the rest of the world, this is normal now.”

Young Women Who Watch A Lot Of Porn Are Less Likely To Enjoy Sex

A new study published in the Journal of Women’s Health found that college-age straight women who watch a lot of porn are more likely to feel insecure during sex—and enjoy it less as a result. Researchers discovered a direct link between thinking about porn during sex and insecurities. And the findings also showed that the more women used porn for self-pleasure, the more likely they were to think about it during sex.

“In other words, pornography use for women is associated with increased thoughts of pornography during sexual encounters. And increased pornography thoughts is associated with increased appearance insecurity and decreased enjoyment of intimate acts during sex,” reports NY Post. One of the study’s researchers adds, “Women with higher rates of viewing pornography were more likely to experience thoughts about pornography during sex with a partner, rely on those thoughts to obtain or maintain excitement, or report a preference for pornography over sex with a partner.” When watching porn goes wrong…

Brazil’s President Tweeted Amateur Golden Shower Porn

After tweeting a pornographic golden shower video, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro had a follow-up question: “What is a golden shower?” His tweets, which went out to his 3 million Twitter followers, quickly went viral. The far-right president’s tweet was apparently meant to denounce Carnaval, the annual festival marked with wild street parties.

Bolsonaro tweeted what he claimed was the new normal at Carnaval. In it, a long-haired man is seen teasing his anus with a finger while standing on a bus stop before a fellow partier then pulls out his dick and urinates in the man’s hair. The tweet did not draw the support that Bolsonaro seemed to hope it would, with commentators on both the left and right condemning him. The Workers’ Party (PT) has already said that it would be taking the president to court for sharing pornography.

New York state is debating legalizing and lifting criminal penalties for sex work. The new bill, which has been written with DecrimNY, would make it legal to buy and sell sex under certain circumstances. Supporters say criminal penalties for prostitution haven’t worked, and legalization would improve sex worker safety while reducing trafficking and exploitation.

They claim many sex workers rely on their jobs to make ends meet, and that laws against prostitution only hurt vulnerable people with few other options. “For us, this is a bodily autonomy issue—our bodies, our choice—but more than that, it’s an economic issue. And it’s personal,” said DecrimNY. DecrimNY also tweeted, “.@DickGottfried reminds us that once upon a time, sex outside of marriage was criminalized, and not long ago, marriage between two people of the same gender was criminalized. Decriminalization of sex work is next!”

Queens Is Home To The Most ‘Sugar Daddies’ In NYC, According To Study

Sugar babies seeking rich older guys to spoil them should skip Billionaires’ Row in Manhattan and head to Queens, according to a new study by the dating site Seeking Arrangements. The outer borough is home to the most “sugar daddies” in the city—with 1,308 of the wealthy men dwelling there. That’s far more than Manhattan, where 586 of the men live, and Brooklyn, which is home to just 370.

Other data shows that only 152 live in the Bronx and 97 from Staten Island. In Queens, the Forest Hills neighborhood is the biggest hub for “daddies,” followed by Woodside and then Elmhurst, Seeking Arrangements reported. The dating site—which has 20 million users world wide—says it hooks up “successful men and women” with attractive young people looking to be showered with “gifts.”

Survey results published by Planet Fitness show 78% of people think confidence is the reason why dad bods are hot. “Nearly four in five among both women and men believe a ‘dad bod’ is a sign of a man who is confident in his own skin,” according to the survey. Results also show 65% of people say the dad bod is attractive while 61% said men with dad bods are sexy—which is up 10% from 2018. Body positivity = sex positivity!
