Sex Toys Now Sold At Mainstream Retailers

It seems you can buy a lot more than lipstick at Sephora these days. Sephora recently became the latest retailer to offer vibrators, lubricants, oils, and butt plugs from boutique startups like Maude and Dame under the category of “sexual wellness.” Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom started offering these products last year.

Executives said that popular attitudes, particularly among millennials and the Gen Z crowd, have changed as they relate to sex, and big name retailers are responding to the ever-changing needs of their customer base. “People are spending more time, energy and disposable income on their own wellness, so it was natural that this expanded to sexual wellness,” said Bloomingdale’s vice president. The CEO of Dame told the Times: “Each time somebody puts us in their store, especially a major player like Sephora, it makes it easier for other people to put in their store, easier for investors to invest in us and easier for customers to buy us.”

The Very Raunchy History Of Sex In The Middle Ages

Katherine Harvey’s illuminating novel The Fires of Lust: Sex in the Middle Ages offers a peek into the sexual beliefs and bedrooms of ordinary medieval men and women living in western Europe. Erections were believed to be the result of a “windy spirit,” meaning those suffering with impotence were advised to eat foods which caused wind and bloating like chickpeas. Too much sex was said to be very dangerous because it could cause the body to dry out, leading to hair loss, heart and lung problems, and kidney failure.

German Dominican friar Albertus Magnus recounted the story of one unfortunate monk who died because he lusted over a woman so much his “brain had shrunk to the size of a pomegranate, and his eyes had been destroyed.” Medieval doctors believed, however, that there was a connection between sexual pleasure and reproduction: it was thought that both men and women had to have an orgasm simultaneously for conception to occur. With this in mind, foreplay was encouraged by medieval doctors—with some even suggesting men apply chewed peppers to his penis to cause his wife “incredible delectation.”

Horny Tourists Are Destroying Spanish Sand Dunes

Sex-crazed tourists need to keep their horny asses off of Spain’s beaches, scientists say. International researchers are urging tourists on the Canary Islands to abstain from sex-on-the-beach, as they are destroying fragile sand dune habitats. “These practices produce some environmental impacts,” reads the study.

Titled “Sand, Sun, Sea and Sex with Strangers, the ‘five S’s,” the research examined the effect of “cruising,” aka “anonymous sexual encounters, mostly among homosexuals” on the Dunas de Maspalomas Special Nature Reserve, a conservation area on Gran Canaria. They found that these same-sex hookups were causing damage to “eight native plant species, three of which are endemic.” According to the research, “the bigger the sex spot, the higher the number of people who made use of it, the greater the likelihood of it being a low-lying area covered by vegetation, and the larger the amount of waste.”

New Zealand Prime Minister Responds To X-Rated Question About Casual Sex

Jacinda Ardern has given a very fitting response to a comedian’s X-rated question about New Zealand’s Covid sex rules. While a vaccine ad airing across the nation has suggested “two shots” of Pfizer are needed “to do the deed,” politicians haven’t addressed the matter directly. With Kiwis confused over sex guidelines, a comedian shared a satirical video calling on journalists to ask Ms Ardern and Director General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield when people can “go out and fuck a stranger.”

He adds, “Because I feel like that is something we all want to know: When can we all go out and just fuck someone we don’t know?” The viral clip gained the attention of thousands of social media users—including the prime minister herself. In response to the comedian’s questions—which also included clarity on the government’s policy on “orgies”—the nation’s leader appropriately commented by posting a shocked face emoji, which has since racked up thousands of “likes.”

Russian TikToker Jailed For Simulating Sex Act In Moscow’s Red Square

You don’t want to fuck around in Russia’s Red Square—literally. A TikToker and his girlfriend have been jailed for 10 months for simulating oral sex in front of a cathedral in Moscow’s Red Square. The TikToker took a pic of his girlfriend kneeling in front of him like she was giving him head with the Red Square in the background.

The TikToker posts mostly pranks on his social media, while his blonde girlfriend was described by the media as an Instagram model. The Russian court chastised the pair for committing “public actions expressing clear disrespect for society.” Geez, don’t get your panties in a bunch, Russia…

Lingerie Model Marries Herself To Promote ‘Self-Love’

A sexy Brazilian lingerie model and social media influencer recently married herself outside of a Catholic church in the name of “self-love.” “I wasn’t ashamed, I went to church with determination,” Chris Galêra said of her wedding-for-one. For the solo ceremony, Galêra sported a white dress with a “killer neckline” that flaunted her ample cleavage and ass.

She revived a trend called sologamy, in which single people wed themselves in the spirit of not needing a partner to find happiness. “Most people loved it and found it interesting. They think I’m kidding, but I actually married me! And some women said they’ll do the same,” Galêra said, adding that she’s been courted by “thousands” of men on Instagram who have offered to marry her. The risqué model, who isn’t shy when it comes to posing in the nude, says she’s keeping an open mind to someday finding the (other) one: “I will never divorce myself, but also if a new love appears, I will want to live the experience. I’ll put the person in second place, first it will always be me.”

Athletes Crave Hook Ups During The Olympics

Athletes in Olympic Village are staying active, after-hours. This year, organizers have provided 160,000 condoms in the Tokyo Olympic Village to keep the party going. Former German long jumper and Olympic athlete Susen Tiedtke has said that sometimes she could hardly sleep because of noisy sex.

She said: “When the competition is over, they want to live out their energy, there is one party after the other.” She added, “It happens that you have sex and there are enough people who also strive for that.” Tiedtke explained that your roommates were “considerate” if you needed to have the bedroom to yourself after your competition.

Bondage Members’ Club Given Thousands By Arts Council’s COVID Recovery Fund

A bondage members’ club which holds underground sex parties has been given a £36,235 taxpayer handout by Arts Council England’s Covid recovery fund. London-based Klub Verboten hosts monthly sex parties for kinksters at secret locations across the capital. The self-titled “fetish club” sells sex toys, bondage products and nipple clamps for its members and “champions positive forms of alternative human interaction,” according to its website.

Klub Verboten said it was “rescued from going bust” after its application to the Arts Council England was approved from the Covid Culture Recovery Fund. A spokesperson said, “We recognize that some things won’t be for everyone, but we want to support a wide range of different types of organisations that cater to all tastes and interests.” It follows Arts Council England giving £215,000 to a drag queen called Le Gateau Chocolat last year.

Michaela Coel Dedicates BAFTA To Her Intimacy Coordinator

Intimacy coordinators are all the rage for shows featuring sex scenes, which is why Michaela Coel gave a shout out to hers in her acceptance speech. The creator and star of “I May Destroy You” was named Leading Actress at the BAFTAs and dedicated her award to the intimacy coordinator she worked with, Ita O’Brien. “Thank you for your existence in our industry, for making the space safe, for creating physical, emotional and professional boundaries so that we can make work about exploitation, loss of respect, about abuse of power without being exploited or abused in the process,” said Coel.

O’Brien has worked as an intimacy coordinator on a number of shows exploring consent, including Normal People and Sex Education. Coel added that she knows what it’s like to film without an intimacy coordinator, to witness “the messy embarrassing feeling for the crew, the internal devastation for the actor.” She said, “Your direction was essential to my show, and I believe essential for every production company that wants to make work exploring themes of consent.”
